Booking and deposits
There’s no payment on our website and no booking fees. Prices are per group (see our rates). If your group is small, we may pair you with another small group, and we'll always let you know before your trip. Booking works in four steps:
- Send a request. Choose a trip, date and group size on the availability calendar. This is a free interest request, not a confirmed booking, and nothing is charged.
- We confirm by email. Jack will reply within one business day to confirm the date, crag and details.
- Pay a 50% deposit. Once you’re happy with the plan, we send an invoice for half the total. Your date is held once the deposit is paid.
- Pay the balance 72 hours before. The remaining 50% is due 72 hours before your trip.
Cancellation by you
We know plans change. To cancel or reschedule, email hello@climbfirstpitch.com. What you get back depends on how far ahead you let us know:
- 7+ days out Full refund, or a free move to another date
- 2–6 days out 50% back, or a free reschedule
- Inside 48 hours No refund, but one free transfer to a date within 12 months
A transfer moves your trip, and anything you’ve paid, to a new date. Just tell us when you’d like to climb.
Cancellation by us
Sometimes conditions make the call. If we cancel your trip, you always choose between a full refund and a free reschedule. The usual reasons:
- Weather. Rain, storms and other unsafe conditions. We don’t climb wet sandstone (it breaks easily and the damage is permanent), and Malibu Creek’s volcanic pockets need two or three dry days after rain.
- Fire danger. State parks and national forest land can close on Red Flag fire-weather days.
- Closures. Land managers sometimes close roads, parking lots or crags for fire, flooding, erosion or wildlife.
Your guide makes the call. We check conditions and closures the evening before every trip and let you know as soon as we can. Sometimes a different crag is a good alternative, but we’ll only switch with your OK.
Start times and late arrivals
Our standard trips run at these times:
- Half Day (AM): 8:00am–12:00pm (early summer start to beat the heat: 7:00am–11:00am)
- Half Day (PM): 1:00pm–5:00pm (earlier winter finish before dusk: 12:30pm–4:30pm)
- Full Day: 8:00am–4:00pm (early summer start to beat the heat: 7:00am–3:00pm)
Your confirmation lists the exact time and meeting spot. Please arrive a few minutes early so we can start on time. If you’re running late, call or text (323) 555-0142. We may not be able to run past the scheduled end time, since your guide may have another trip that day.
Waivers and minors
- Everyone signs a waiver. Every participant signs a liability waiver before climbing. We email a link with your confirmation so it’s done before the day.
- Minimum age. Climbers must be at least 6 years old on standard trips. Multi-pitch trips are for ages 14 and up.
- Under 18? Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian on site who signs the waiver for them.
Safety and conduct
Climbing has real risks. Our job is to manage them so you can focus on having a great day, and that means a few non-negotiables:
- The guide’s decisions are final. That includes which routes we climb, whether conditions are safe, and ending the day early if needed.
- No alcohol or drugs. Please don’t arrive under the influence or bring them to the crag. Anyone who does won’t be able to climb.
- Follow your guide’s instructions around ropes, anchors and the cliff edge, and keep your helmet on at the crag.
- Respect the places we climb. Stay on trails, pack out everything you bring and follow posted closures. We only guide where land managers authorize commercial use.
Photos
We love taking photos during your trip and sending them to you afterwards. We only share trip photos (on our website, Instagram or anywhere else) with your permission. Just let us know your preference.
Privacy

- We never sell your information.
- We also keep your browser type, your country and a hashed (scrambled) copy of your IP address, used only to prevent spam.
